Majorna is the new cultural hot spot in Gothenburg, Sweden. Once a classic workers’ distric, you can now find hip restaurants, bars and little shops aplenty.

And the neighbourhood derives much of its character from the typical landshövdingehus – Gothenburg’s typical houses that consist of one brick and two wooden storeys. A building type unique to the Swedish city of Gothenburg.

For Johanna and Mattias, owner of today’s apartment, it was a no-brainer on where to find an apartment in the city. Majorna of course! It is a vibrant area with a relaxed vibe and it is also close to both the sea and the city center.

And once moved in, photographer and stylist Johanna Hagbard (you absolutely need to follow her on Instagram for daily inspiration!) turned the home into a happy and cosy family haven. Find natural materials, playful details mixing with flea market finds and design classics:

Exploring your creativity is easy in this kids room. And I am sure little Ruben is having lots of fun in here.

The cool world map is from here and if you never got around painting a wall with chalk paint, this may be your best inspiration. Add some gym rings for extra fun and keep the rest simple.

Backpack from Fjallraven*.

There is a little balcony too. Growing some tomatoes, flowers and herbs. The light, something so prominent in Scandinavian homes, is phenomenal and an unmissable accessory.

And you can clearly see the love of details and special things a stylist has in its blood. Have a look at the pictures again and discover the cute kitchen utensils on the wall, the pretty coffee table books or the colours of the plants.

Tack!

Would you like another dose of Scandi interior delight? How about this small yet cosy Stockholm flat or this magnificient kids room?
