Frrrniture

Frrrniture
Frrrniture is a collection of six fun chairs and a table designed and made in Slovenia.

The chairs are rabbits, frogs, ladybugs, mushrooms, penguins or bees. Fun and made from vivid colors and simple shapes, that encourage child’s own interpretation. The wooden surfaces are coated with a semi-transparent, water-based and environmentally friendly finish which emphasizes the structure of the wood.

I found the pieces during my visit to Pitti Bimbo in June and was sure you would like these too. And have a look at their website, it is so cute.

Good Morning! How was your week end?
We are in full party mood over here, with Josephine who turned two last week, Leonor had a cosy party on Saturday and will turn 5 this week Thursday. Festive it is and we love it… so cheerful and happy!

And in between all the confetti and balloons I was thinking about stripes. Because they make us happy too!

Bold, colorful, monochrome – we take any stripes over here and I put together a few of my current favorites. Including some mom styles:

“Winter in White”, a pop up book by Robert Sabuda is the inspiration for this Autumn/ Winter collection. It is one of Melissa’s daughters’ favorite pop up books, and they love reading it together. Especially around the holiday season that is approaching in big steps.

The latest collection from Eden & Zoe was inspired by the beauty of the paper patterns, the sense of balance and geometry, and the attention to detail to each pop up design in “Winter in White”.

Melissa, founder and designer, created cashmere and fine merino wool knits in combination with “structured” textiles including delicate lace patterns, classic tweed, and a geometric velvet fabric.

And we are finding a delicate collection that invites us to embrace the upcoming colder season. Crisp, sparkling and warm.

The collection includes occasion wear as well. Perfect for the festive days in December and beyond.

Next to the classic grey, pink and white, Melissa added black for older girls and different shades of blue for boys. And the sizing goes up to 12 years now too.

My favorite is the Neve tweed dress – classic and perfect for all occasions, from school to party.

Yiota Nicodimou

Yiota Nicodimou
I am very well aware that we are facing Autumn and the weather for light tops and shorts is over for most us. BUT… yes but, I just found this lovely brand from Greece {the country where you can wear summer dresses for the biggest part of the year} and needed to show you. You can keep it in mind for next summer or you maybe go on a warm vacation this winter… oh… and they do very nice occasion wear too…

So I have some good reasons to put this under your nose today.

Yiota Nicodimou designs and produces handmade Christening and kids clothes. The design and production is made in Greece, in a small workshop in the center of Athens.

‘I grew up among fabrics, sewing machines, pattern and designs. This evoked my passion for handmade clothes. My career path was a circle of knowledge to what I am doing today. The decision of creating children’s clothing appeared along with the birth of my first son.’

The finest selected quality materials, Comfortable silhouettes and handcrafted work.

‘We do not mass produce, nor are we frenetic machines that create ‘fashion trends’ which eventually changes so quickly that finally the “value” is lost.’

mummymoon S/S 2018

mummymoon S/S 2018
TAKE IT EASY – is the name of Mummymoon‘s collection for summer 2018. Spotted during Pitti Bimbo in June and just found those stunning images again, I needed to share and show. Different, quirky, fun and trendy – all the good reasons to talk about next summer at the end of September.

The collection contains 36 new pieces – all of them are equally surprising, subtle and even a bit glamorous! Having in mind all princesses on earth who dream of flying to the moon. Not forgetting the ones which take their routine easy and with style.

Break with routines and do something unexpected.

When I saw the collection during the fair it was very interesting how the designers managed to combine soft and subtle fabrics with strong and/ or hard ones. Powerful shapes, bold colors and …

… an excellent look book to underline it all.

It is great to see a brand that does not follow the mainstream but does it own style. Creating their own universe and giving our children beautiful clothes that are both simple and sophisticated at the same time.
