Today, one week ago, Pitti Bimbo opened the doors. I arrived on Wednesday afternoon and had a little time to walk through Florence. It was very hot {quick a difference when flying in from Sweden} and beautiful. If you have never been to Florence, please put it on your travel list. It is a must.
The evening I spent on a terrace overlooking Florence with good food and great company. The perfect start.
The next morning I made my way to the fair, walking through the little streets and going through the list of people, brands and shows I want to visit in my head. Work mode!
This years theme for the fair was Boom, Pitti Blooms. Inspired by the energy and beauty of flowers that blossom like new creative ideas.
You could see flower installation and goodies everywhere. Very pretty and so good for the mood. All staff was dressed in cool clothes and shoes especially designed for the fair. {have a look}
Today I will share my first day in pictures and take you a bit with me. What I saw, who I met and so on.

At 11h the first catwalk show was held – Children’s Fashion from Spain with the theme Route 66. Brands participating were: Amaya, Barcarola, Boboli, Desigual, Mayoral & Tuc Tuc.
The show ended with a big firework of confetti. Loved it!
After the show I went to see the special installation by Dolce & Gabbana. It was the brands debut at Pitti Bimbo and they created a market filled with all kinds of flowers and colors.
The theme for their Spring/Summer collection for 2018 is: Style in blossom {perfect match with Pitti’s theme}. The best part was the presence of the famous #DGCloni – the cartoon shapes of Domenico & Stefano!
After a nice lunch I went to the next show at 14h. Two brands showed here: Fun & Fun and She.ver
And then, nearly 15h already {time is truly running fast} I finally made it to The Nest:
Poupée presented a very inspiring new collection. Designed around a duck including a magical video and lots of must-have pieces for boys&girls.
Monkind from Berlin stay true to their style. Beautiful organic basics. And for next summer there will also be swimwear and some pieces in a lovely muslin fabric. Watch out!
NEW BRAND: Kiboro from NYC. Great sustainable Kids Kimono style rompers and sets from a husband and wife duo that merge their roots from Chile and Hawaii into one brand. Very interesting and inspiring.
Sommer & Kinder presented their very first summer collection. Light cotton knits in lovely colors. I especially adore the cute hats!
Then I rushed over to The Apartment and found these cute sandals from PePe.
Next stop was Velveteen and saying hello to lovely Laura, the designer. We had a nice talk about the collection, motherhood, entrepreneurship and other things.
We are all having the same ups and downs {no big surprise but sometimes good to know too}. I love Velveteen and Laura’s designs. Romantic, full of details and great materials and next summer will be fruity!
And my last meeting was Naturino. I finally met Erika who is doing their PR and with whom I e mail for years and we never met. Until now. So nice. And I can tell you – Naturino gets better and better. Same famous high quality of course, but more and more fashionable and interesting. Especially in summer I love shoes that have some fun details.
After that I ran over to the book signing of Achim Lippoth.
And I met many blogger friends like Katie from Pirouette, Kirsi from Sand in your shorts, Linda from Smudgetikka and the girls from Milan Magazine.
