Pitti Bimbo #86 – highlights

Pitti Bimbo #86
Yesterday I shared some impressions from the famous fashion shows from Pitti Bimbo. Today I will share some of my highlights and favourites.

It is always my first show of the season and that means that all my favourite kids fashion people are coming together and there is a lot of catching up to do. Then all the events and shows… it is usually two really busy days for me. Packed with lots of information, news and inspiration…

Above: Kiboro was at The Nest again and showed their new collection of the cutest kimono onesies.
The Nest, curated by Little Pop Up, showed an exclusive selection of small independent brands.

Pitti Bimbo – 18. – 20. January 2018

Cinema will be the theme for Pitti Bimbo – taking place in Florence, Italy from January 18-21.1.2018. And the Fortezza da Basso will be devised, for this edition, as a sort of film festival where each venue represents a specific genre.

The leading key international fair dedicated to children’s fashion and lifestyle is waiting with projects dedicated to new market segments, special participation’s and a focus on emerging talents.

There will be a total of 540 brands / collections and out of that number 315 foreign brands (55% of the total).
And 128 new brands and reentries. Exciting fair ahead I would say!

Pitti Bimbo will be devided in 10 Sections: Pitti Bimbo, Sport Generation, #Activelab, SuperStreet, EcoEthic, Apartment, KidzFIZZ, The Nest, Fancy Room, Fashion at Work. Truly something for everyone. From luxury to casual, from street wear to organic basics.

Are you ready? Will I see you there?

Pitti Bimbo – 18. – 20. January 2018

Here are just some of the highlights that will wait for us in January:

* NEW – #ACTIVELAB @ Cavaniglia Studio
This brand new experimental section connecting the sport and street universe debuts at Pitti Bimbo. #Activelab is the new research laboratory with the same DNA as Kidzfizz, but with a street and sport influence and imprint. Find it inside the Cavaniglia Pavilion

* “The Golden Age”: Monnalisa will celebrate 50 years with a stunning event!
For the first time ever the Fortezza da Basso will be illuminated by night. On the top floor of the Central Pavilion, Thursday 18th of January from 19.30 on wards, there will be catwalk shows, music and cocktails.

* Simonetta presents “How many balloons does it take to make a dream fly?”, a special installation at the Limonaia di Villa Vittoria, on Thursday 18th of January.

* Roberto Cavalli Junior will adorn a customized space at the Fortezza da Basso in jaguar spot and prints.

* On the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion, The Extraordinary Library will provide a space for a selection of 100 illustrated books from international publishers. Dedicated to entertainment in all its forms: the story of cinema and theater, the magic of ballet and opera, the wonder of the acrobatic and circus arts.

* Apartment is the space devoted to contemporary luxury. On Friday January 19th, a special catwalk show at the Sala della Ronda will give greater visibility to some of the brands.

* KidzFIZZ brings together the most creative collections by brands that experiment with shapes, materials and presentation. KidzFIZZ is the fair’s concept lab and on Friday January 19th, a selection of KidzFIZZ brands will be part of a special fashion show in the Sala della Ronda.

* The Nest is there too. Of course! An exclusive selection of small and “up-and-coming” independent brands selected in collaboration with Little Pop Up. Very much looking forward to discovering some new brands there.

* Pirouette will select two brands for the 1 2 watch awards. Judging the new talents in The Nest and KidzFizz sections who stand out for their creativity, attention to details and design. The winners will be selected and announced on Thursday 18th January.

* Oh and myself, yes I will also play a little extra role for this season. I will be writing a special web diary for the Pitti Immagine website, with all the most interesting news from the show.

Here is a full list of exhibitors.

Impressions from Pitti Bimbo June 2017 – day two

pitti bimbo kokori

Day two started with a brunch. Set in a beautiful private garden and held by Roberto Cavalli. The collection was presented throughout the garden and it really looked very special. I went with my good friend Dimitra from Little Pop Up because we wanted to discuss and brainstorm a few ideas for future projects as well.

Kids fashion, good food and interesting conversation – what could be a better start of the day?

Here are some impressions from the Roberto Cavalli brunch:

We went straight back to the fair from the brunch. It was already around 11.30h and together with Dimitra we decided to check out the Kids Fizz area.

And who did we meet there first thing? Berlin brand Noe & Zoe.

Then I had a very nice and long conversation with Kirsi from Sand in your shorts plus another meeting. Exciting things will happen in the near future. I will keep you posted!

It was 16h already and I absolutely wanted to go back to The Nest and see some more new and small brands {my favorites}.

Especially Kokori I wanted to see live – and it was as beautiful as I expected. Gorgeous garments with lots of great details in the best colors.

Impressions from Pitti Bimbo June 2017 – day one

dolce & gabbana kids
Today, one week ago, Pitti Bimbo opened the doors. I arrived on Wednesday afternoon and had a little time to walk through Florence. It was very hot {quick a difference when flying in from Sweden} and beautiful. If you have never been to Florence, please put it on your travel list. It is a must.
The evening I spent on a terrace overlooking Florence with good food and great company. The perfect start.

The next morning I made my way to the fair, walking through the little streets and going through the list of people, brands and shows I want to visit in my head. Work mode!

This years theme for the fair was Boom, Pitti Blooms. Inspired by the energy and beauty of flowers that blossom like new creative ideas.

You could see flower installation and goodies everywhere. Very pretty and so good for the mood. All staff was dressed in cool clothes and shoes especially designed for the fair. {have a look}

Today I will share my first day in pictures and take you a bit with me. What I saw, who I met and so on.

At 11h the first catwalk show was held – Children’s Fashion from Spain with the theme Route 66. Brands participating were: Amaya, Barcarola, Boboli, Desigual, Mayoral & Tuc Tuc.
The show ended with a big firework of confetti. Loved it!

After the show I went to see the special installation by Dolce & Gabbana. It was the brands debut at Pitti Bimbo and they created a market filled with all kinds of flowers and colors.

The theme for their Spring/Summer collection for 2018 is: Style in blossom {perfect match with Pitti’s theme}. The best part was the presence of the famous #DGCloni – the cartoon shapes of Domenico & Stefano!

After a nice lunch I went to the next show at 14h. Two brands showed here: Fun & Fun and She.ver

And then, nearly 15h already {time is truly running fast} I finally made it to The Nest:

Poupée presented a very inspiring new collection. Designed around a duck including a magical video and lots of must-have pieces for boys&girls.

pitti bimbo the nest

Monkind from Berlin stay true to their style. Beautiful organic basics. And for next summer there will also be swimwear and some pieces in a lovely muslin fabric. Watch out!

pitti bimbo the nest
NEW BRAND: Kiboro from NYC. Great sustainable Kids Kimono style rompers and sets from a husband and wife duo that merge their roots from Chile and Hawaii into one brand. Very interesting and inspiring.

pitti bimbo the nest

Sommer & Kinder presented their very first summer collection. Light cotton knits in lovely colors. I especially adore the cute hats!

Then I rushed over to The Apartment and found these cute sandals from PePe.

Next stop was Velveteen and saying hello to lovely Laura, the designer. We had a nice talk about the collection, motherhood, entrepreneurship and other things.

We are all having the same ups and downs {no big surprise but sometimes good to know too}. I love Velveteen and Laura’s designs. Romantic, full of details and great materials and next summer will be fruity!

pittibimbo naturino

And my last meeting was Naturino. I finally met Erika who is doing their PR and with whom I e mail for years and we never met. Until now. So nice. And I can tell you – Naturino gets better and better. Same famous high quality of course, but more and more fashionable and interesting. Especially in summer I love shoes that have some fun details.

After that I ran over to the book signing of Achim Lippoth.

And I met many blogger friends like Katie from Pirouette, Kirsi from Sand in your shorts, Linda from Smudgetikka and the girls from Milan Magazine.
