To meet people from the industry, discover new trends and brands and most of all to mingle with the industry. We like to share our finds and must haves!
What a start into the New Year. Boom! I like a good start. Fresh, inspirational, powerful and full of faith.
After I missed all the shows last summer because of our road trip and ‘only’ did CIFF KIDS last winter because of the baby, I decided to go 300% this season.
Starting with Pitti Bimbo in Florence {my first time}, 5 days later I was off to Playtime Paris and after a very quick pit stop at home I went to CIFF KIDS.
Intense yet very awesome. Meeting old friends, connecting with new. Catching up with brands, shop owners, agencies and, of course, other bloggers and journalists. Many very interesting conversations happened and for the first time I realized that Paul & Paula is really old. Haha! We are turning 7 this year in May.

This is so cool. I mean, I love what I do. Kids fashion is still a huge passion, the industry is so nice – really like a family and after all these years… you just know a lot of people, stories and ‘things’.
I also realized that I react the same when people call me Paula during these shows. It actually makes me smile.
So what happened in January?
Pitti was overwhelming. In a positive way. Especially because it was the first time {next time I know my way already}. And really very special. Nobody celebrates kids fashion as the Italians. It was fantastic to see how important the kids business was for these 3 days.
I saw fashion shows {first row}, was invited to very fancy showrooms and booths and did my very first Live Interview.
Diners with friends and lots of laughter…
A beautiful experience!
Next stop was Paris. This time I took Romy with me, my eldest and made lots of ‘dates’ beforehand. Paris is always all about meeting people – everyone is coming, time is short, the fair is big. One needs to arrange things before. On Friday afternoon we met or a quick lunch and coffee, squeezed a little shopping in and met another good friend for diner.
Off to the fair. Talking. Looking. Meeting. Diner with the sweetest people. And Romy surprised that ‘everyone’ knows me. Ha. S E V E N years. Just kidding.
Romy selected two brands. And we went back there a few times. She really loves their style. It was so fun to see and what better than a child who loves your style?!
Back home. One day. Last preps for CIFF KIDS. We did a lovely collab this year. Goodie bag selection, press tour and a TALK. Yes another live thing. Wah. Blog/Influencer relations. Many people showed up. So thankful. Thank you for coming and listening. Important and interesting topic. We as well as CIFF got great feedback. Yay!
And now it is February and the task to follow up with everyone, digest all the news and finds is not as easy as it sounds.
I box with all the cards is sitting next to my computer. Waiting!
During the travels I did not share much on my private IG account. I actually just about managed to keep my new ‘blog only’ IG running. Respect to everyone who managed. Walking around, meeting people, pictures, talking…. and running IG. I am out. I learned that I can’t. Always good to know ones capacity :)
*Next winter we will see balloons. Balloon skirts especially. I love that shape. It is so cute and fun!
*And a little more glamour. A little silver lining here, sequins there… details are the most important. I saw some very fancy {BLING!} shoes my friends.
*And knits. More and more knitwear brands are starting. You know I love knits. This makes me happy.
PLUS:
*I see adult collections popping up. More and more brands add pieces for parents. The “I would wear this” phrases must have made an impression…
*Bedding – brands love to have a little home wear too.
*Accessories. Brands are more complete. Socks, underwear, shoes… before you had a brand {or two} for each category. Now you find these pieces in every collection.
PS: In case you wonder – I missed my family big times. It is wonderful to get out {the first time I traveled alone since Josephine was born was Florence} and to not count the kids permanently… {one, two, three… four. Bingo. All there!}. It is. I do miss them. I looked at the pictures on my phone and we face timed lots too.
You know – it is the same when we are all together. The craziness that comes with a family of six is just what you love and hate most. At the same time!
Thank you to everyone I met. Everyone I talked too. Everyone that listened and shared. LOVE!
CIFF KIDS 2017 is over. The fairs are over {for me}. Lots of inspiration and ideas are collected. Before the moment goes here is my round up from Copenhagen.
On my agenda is also a “January’ post – impressions, thank you’s, trends… stay tuned. I am hoping to put my thoughts together for tomorrow latest.
But first back to Copenhagen. The show is getting better and better. The lifestyle section more and more important. The Scandinavians are just great when it comes to design and when you walk the aisles of bedding, accessories and little furniture… well, you usually want it all.
The show has a good and relaxed atmosphere as well and buyers like to make appointments with busy brands at CIFF KIDS. It is more relaxed and less time pressure. [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]
Little chairs, benches and tables from Ferm Living Kids. Fantastic colour combinations!
KiSSe from Spain is a refreshing new brand. The prints are made from the designers kids’ drawings!
Nofred added dollhouses to their assortment. These are the very first samples and were first shown during the fair. Inspired by Copenhagen’s Nyhavn. Very cute!
Newcomer SEPTEMBERS is a Danish brand that just launched. Find knitted baby alpaca clothes in carefully chosen colours as well as handmade, hand-painted wooden furniture created by rømer/harbo in Copenhagen.
Soft Gallery is turning 10 this year and therefore created a Jubilee Collection. Lots of embroidery {always been my favourite in their collections} and cute little friends.

On the first day I managed to walk 10km {I had a look on my phone yesterday evening}. I was exhausted at the end of the day. Positively exhausted – full of nice things I saw, lovely people I chatted too, good food I had and walking around a fortress to see the best of kids fashion is really very charming!
Let’s see what our kids will be wearing for A/W 2017:

The Nest
New at Pitti Bimbo was a creative space called The Nest. Curated by my friend & mama bird Dimitra from Little Pop Up. A nest full of upcoming small brands {soon spreading their wings}. Very much my kind of area. And it was good to see some friends gathered here. Here are a few impressions:
Cherry Papaya designed a very cool tribal inspired collection. Strongest collection since they started in my opinion.
It was so good to see Susan from Garbo&friends again. Loving all their new products!
mara mea designed little backpacks. Kids can match with the lovely diaper bags now!
MONKIND from Berlin. It was so lovely to finally meet. Next to the adorable small pieces the brand designed a few for women and now offers bedding too.
Poupee Kids from Greece – very poetic and whimsical!
Robe of Feathers – such a pleasure to finally meet Nele the lady behind the brand. The next A/W 2017 is as adorable as usual with lots of pompoms!
This morning I shared a few images from the catwalk shows. And because it is so fun to see what will come in a few months… let’s continue with some of my personal highlights.
In between all the different collections, labels and buildings… here are my favourites from Pitti Bimbo last week.

We had a splendid time, met many creative people, had great chats and deep conversations with brands, magazines & shop owners. We are back with a suitcase full of inspiration and before we are heading to the next fair I want to share some of it with you here.
The fair is a true event, a little overwhelming even in the beginning. You feel the passion for kids fashion everywhere. People are excited and you get absorbed by the atmosphere.
It was so good to meet old and new faces {always my favourite part}, discover new brands and the new collections of old favourites. This industry is something special – kind and fun people around you, full of creativity and power!
Let’s start with some images from the fashion shows and watch out for more posts with my finds, favourites and and and… [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]
