On Saturday it was pouring down with rain and KleinR wanted to bake something sweet to uplift our mood.

We made some really cute and easy to make butterfly cakes. Most little girls love butterflys and my daughter is no exception…

You need:

175g soft butter
175g fine sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla aroma
200g flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp milk

for the topping:

110g soft butter
250g icing sugar
1tsp vanilla aroma
2 tsp hot water
something to decorate

Now you pre-heat your oven to 160C and mix the butter and sugar until creamy.

Add the eggs {one by one}, vanilla aroma, flour and baking powder. Finally add the milk.

Line a muffins form {12} with some nice cupcake liners and fill each with the batter you just made with your kids.
Bake for around 20min.

Let the cakes cool down and make the topping.

Mix the butter and sugar until creamy, add the water and vanilla and put in the fridge until the cakes are cool.

Now you cute the top of each cake, top the cut cake with the cream you made {if you are a pro you do it with a pastry bag}, cut the top in two and place those on top as wings!

Now everyone can go wild with the deco…

Enjoy!
