Wooden bead necklace {DIY}

DIY necklace
The best presents we can receive are handmade things, especially if they were made by your own kids.
I have a necklace that my now 12 year old son made for me when he was 5. I remember his sweet little face, so proud of what he had done, and even prouder face when he saw me actually wearing it. I wore it (A LOT).

I have always treasured and loved this necklace.

So I was thinking that with all the rage of painted wooden beads out there, wouldn’t it be nice to paint some with your kids to give to aunts, cousins, friends??

What you will need:

• Wooden balls – sold at most craft stores

• Any paint in your preferred color – I used acrylic

• Paintbrush

• String or thread

• Blue tack or play-doh for placing the beads to dry

If you have little kids check out this very cute idea to help them with the painting of the wooden balls.

My little helper was my older son, so there was no need for sticks to help him with the painting. We just covered what he didn’t wanted to paint with washitape, and it was perfect to hold the ball from the tape.

Paint two coats for a stronger color and leave to dry.

Then just string the thread, and…
Wear it, or give them as gifts. I think I’m keeping one for me!

Making a small pouch to put the necklace in adds another dose of cuteness to the gift, especially if it is personalized.

I hope you have lots of fun doing this.
