Blush Peach and Savannah Sunset coloured family home

Oh lord. The place I am showing you today had me at first sight. It is a rather small space but the use of space and colour palette make it so stunning. I am truly in love and want to redecorate right away.

This unique attic has a special atmosphere, some Art Nouveau soul, and a whole lot of character.

The colour palette is based on a landscape photograph from Oman by the photographer Chiara Zonca. The pale pine floor became the sand, the pink shifts in the sunset dunes became walls and moldings, dark shadows in rock formations became the bedroom’s dark red and black details. And the ceilings were painted in pigeon blue.

But the best part is how the colours play out during the day. Starting the days in warm golden light and getting more cosy during the darker hours of the evening.

In short: It is amazing and I will let the pictures speak for themselves:

The kids room is the cutest. Sitting right under the roof with every inch carefully used and means the little one literally falls asleep under stars here. And there is plenty of space for playing, sleeping, storing and growing.

Usually I select the interiors I show here based on their children’s rooms. Which was the case here too, however the star is the kitchen for me. I just love it. I love how they did the lighting, the black that gives it more the impression of being a piece of furniture than a kitchen. And that window with the deepest window sill I have ever seen. So pretty!

Altogether the combination of the wall colour, the mustard sofa, and black cabinets is so interesting. What do you think?

The 10 Best Colouring Pages for Kids for Long Days at home

The 10 Best Colouring Pages for Kids for Long Days at home
‘Mum, can you print a colouring sheet for me? Please!’.

I am pretty sure you know that question very well. And you also know the next step – searching, landing on tons of questionable websites, and mostly ending in images that are either too small and require too many steps to download.

I know! It is frustrating and so annoying. Especially because one might think that it is a very easy mission to print out a colouring sheet.

And I am also pretty sure that colouring is in extra high demand these days. For a little break from homework, or when you need some quiet time to finish something for work.

Beautiful and sustainable tableware for children

Nuukk

Today I am sharing something beautiful coming right out of the heart of my home town, Berlin, and on top it is something you find probably very handy right now.

Beautiful and sustainable tableware for children*! Decorated with the sweetest drawings and prints.

nuukk is run by illustrator and artist Andrea and was founded in 2010. Her beautiful illustrations adorn the products and make them real eye catchers on your table. Andrea works together with a workshop in Berlin who provides work and education for those with disabilities. On top she takes the sustainable aspect very serious and uses materials  like biodegradable bamboo, recycled paper, and organic cotton.

Bamboo is made from plant fibers, and is biodegradable, and BPA-free. You can pop it into the dishwasher and it is perfect for everyday-use for kids or a lightweight alternative on a picnic.

Have a look at the lovely collection of tableware for children:

Next to the bamboo tableware for little people, you can also find products for adults. Sweet porcelain stickers, postcards, light bags, various stamps, cutting boards and much more.

Right now, the bunny* products are very popular with Easter coming up.

Psssst… great gift idea…

And I am loving the ABC print*, which is available in German, French, and English.

I hope that everyone of you is doing well and that you have enough inspiration and ideas for the ‘stay at home’ weeks. Otherwise, how about these craft ideas ?

Incredibly charming family apartment in Gothenburg, Sweden

Incredibly charming family apartment

Here in London things got more serious yesterday evening and measures to stop the virus to spread are strict. No total lock-down yet but I guess if people still do not follow the government’s advice we will get there sooner than later.

And since the weather is gorgeous and I find it important to get a dose of fresh air with the children between home schooling and feeding them all day long I hope we can prevent it.

But enough with the covid-19 talk. Let’s visit a very charming and unconventional family home in Gothenburg, Sweden. Just to change our mind a little and to get inspired. I totally love the exciting floor plan,  the arched original windows, and white wooden floors. And that open kitchen!

Gorgeous original details, 3m high ceilings, and lots of daylight turn this place into a  calm, unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere.

And as usual, I will start with showing you the kids room:

Elephant wallpaper anyone?

And that little nook turned into a cute desk. Very neutral colour combination and all the cushions make it very cosy.

Ahhhh, I so love that big table. This is totally up my street and that (I guess) DIY lamp is so cool. And of course that bench along the wall which makes everything so much more cool.

3 big windows to let in that special Scandinavian light!

That display wall is definitely worth to remember and to take away inspiration for our own homes. Loving the mix of prints, illustrations, as well as the different styles of frames.

Coupled with the pillows – an equal mix of fun colours, design, and a mix of modern and more traditional.

More stunning places in Gothenburg? How about this lush place or this very cosy family apartment?
