Oh where should I start… maybe that I am big city homesick? At least a little… since we live in Malmo {which is small for me} all I want to do for holidays is going to the big cities.

And it is not against Sweden {I love it!} but I think I am just a true big city girl. We landed in New York, took a cab and it felt like coming home…

All those people, buildings, different hoods and spots and areas. Choices of food and culture and and and….

Summary: I loved … we loved …the two weeks and if I could go back, I would not even blink and pack my bag.
Family wise: They loved it too and not just because we told them. There are so many great things to do with kids but I will report all about that in a different post or two.

We decided to go for 2 weeks. On purpose.
First of all, New York is not a destination we go every year so we wanted to see as much as we can but without running from one thing to the other and going crazy.

And we wanted to enjoy the city. Walk around the hoods, find places… take a little time…
and of course because we traveled with our three kids.

Every day included at least 2 stops at a playground or something else fun for them.

Oh and I am in love with the New Yorkers. Man… they are so friendly and helpful. It took not even a day and more people asked to help with the stroller and/or offered a seat in the subway, held doors open etc than in nearly 6 years in Amsterdam.
It is not everything but it says a lot about a city and it is something you do not forget and that does make your trip nicer!
And no, I did not expect the people to be rude and unfriendly, I just thought they would be way too busy… too busy to wait at the stairs and ask if they can help. Too busy to triple check if I really don’t want to skip the queue etc. It is just nice and very welcome!

We had lovely weather and it wasn’t even too hot for August.

I fell in love with Wholefoods, had the chance to visit Playtime, met lovely Amanda and Danielle.

I want to live in Brooklyn and eat every week end at Smorgasburg. Of course we enjoyed some shopping and I was surprised to not to find many cool kids shops.

Hope you like those pictures, a little glimpse… I will show you more and then a guide about things to do with kids. Just bare with me a little :)
