Les Toiles Blanches {white linens} is a collection of simple products for children and the home inspired by the beauty of ancient textiles – accessories, rag dolls, clothes and toys made from vintage household linens.

Designer Marie-Pierre Guiard uses raw materials like tea towels, embroidered handkerchiefs, curtains, fabrics coupons found from around everywhere in France. Red-striped linen dishcloths, openwork cotton-linen sheets, monogrammed napkins in linen and cotton damask, sheets in heavy hemp or fine embroidered linen are transformed into sturdy aprons, quilts and duvet covers bordered with cotton rickrack, cushions that double as cuddly stuffed toys, dolls to dress up, reversible bibs, pouches and bags, and adorable little smocks and old-fashioned tunics …

And that is why every piece has so much character.
“Once upon a time, Les Toiles Blanches, a pretty brand that makes toys and accessories for kids made from linens of Napoleon the third’s time? These canvases woven more than a century ago have a soft patina finish and are natural thanks to their oeko-tex certified eco-friendly dyes, to respect children’s fragile skin. Here and there they have hints from their past life: antique lace application, monograms, red thread embroideries, pearly buttons? One-off pieces with extra soul, traditionally made in respect of the environment, and with a second life that is made to last.”

Each piece is one of a kind and marked with a discreet LTB monogram, like a family heirloom. Some pieces preserve details of their previous life: an original monogram, needle-weaving, an embroidered border, elegant stitching or a delicate darn …
