Joséphine’s first bike from Stadtlandkind

banwood
Only 10 more days and our little Joséphine will turn two. Birthday preparations are in full swing {Leonor will turn 5 just a week later so we are having a very cheerful month here in the Paul & Paula house} and one gift arrived a little early and was already very well received.

The lovely people behind Stadtlandkind were so sweet to send Joséphine her first bike! A beautiful red pedal-less two wheeler from Banwood for the cheeky lady. With a matching helmet for safety and the perfect look.

Banwood is a family-owned Berlin-based company specializing in bicycles for children up to age 5. Their core values are safety, high quality and timeless design.

Since daddy assembled it {you probably witnessed it in my Insta-Stories} Joséphine is looking after her cute bike like a star. Making sure it is on the right spot and remembering everyone that is ‘mina” {hers}. She is very proud to bring her own means of transport to the park now…

And with the cool retro look we {parents} love it too!

This ‘First Go’ Balance Bike is safe, durable and it supports your child’s development by taking advantage of the child’s own abilities to move forward by using his/her own balance and body.

It is designed with a classic child-friendly frame and height-adjustable saddle and handlebars for easy individual customization. The front wicker basket {love it!!!} is included and a good spot to bring essential items like a water bottle or to keep all the stones and sticks you collect during your outing.

Some facts:
* Steel frame
* Minimal seat height 40cm
* Maximum seat height 50 cm
* Adjustable leather handlebar from 50 to 59 cm
* Ergonomic and comfortable seat
* Wicker basket & bell
* 12″ wheels
* Weight: 4.5 Kg

And: Buy one. Plant one.
You buy a bike and Banwood will give a donation to OneTreePlanted, on your behalf. The organization will then use their expertise to decide the best possible location for the tree you have just bought and make sure it grows.

For every single tree we plant, we can make a difference by lowering the carbon dioxide levels from the planet’s atmosphere. This in turn slows the Greenhouse Effect, and also provides us with enough fresh air to breathe.

Perfect bike for little people with a good cause and look. What is not to like?

What is your favorite color?

Lovely Paper by Djeco

Lovely Paper by Djeco
The creative team of the Djeco brand has launched a new line: Lovely Paper. And we were so lucky to be able to test and try some of those products here at home.

I have a very soft spot for anything paper. Books, magazines, postcards and of course craft supplies. This is perfect. Djeco is a brand that I always check when I need a gift, adding the Paper Collection is such a great extension because finding gifts for teens is not always easy but they {usually} all love crafting.

Everything is beautifully illustrated – of course- and the new collection includes notebooks, gums, pencil cases, masking tape, diaries, pens and colored pencils and also these cool glossy stickers that I still know from my own childhood. The ones we collected, got albums and carefully sticked them in those. And then showed them to our friends. Do you remember these?

This beautiful Djeco stationery range makes every kid’s heart beat faster.

There are also glitter and metallic markers,  secret notebooks and mini stamps sets.

And those beautiful flowers that Leonor loved to put together. The set includes everything to create these Origami beauties and make a really lovely decoration for parties or in the kids room.

As you see there is truly something for everyone and a good craft session, on a Sunday morning for example, is always a winner here.

We also got this really cool Silk Scarf set in the Peacock Design.
It contains a silk scarf that you tightly pin to the box to make a taut canvas. Then you paint the design with the silk paint. The paint will stay nicely in the ‘designated areas’ – it is made like this. Step-by-step, the scarf will be an absolute beauty.
Romy loved to do this!

This shop has a good selection of the Lovely paper collection!

Hazel Village

hazel village
Hazel Village was born in 2010 by Jane Van Cleef.

One weekend, I decided to make a toy that I would have liked as a child – a cute and soft doll with a big wardrobe. I cut up some good fabric scraps in the front room of my apartment in Brooklyn, then sewed them into a tiny version of Annicke Mouse. I thought she was so cute, so I made some friends for her and started to imagine the animals’ forest world. I listed the dolls on Etsy, each with its own little outfit and back story. And I took them to local craft markets around Brooklyn.’

Today the animals are produced responsibly in India. Hand made from organic cotton they come in a cute outfit. You can then add more clothes {I love this sweet little box full of heirloom pieces}for some great role play hours and even buy matching outfits for your child.

Quality toys that can stay with your children as they grow up – first as soft, snuggly friends, then as companions for storytelling and dress-up play, and eventually as treasured keepsakes.

I love that you can personalize the woodland friends with a hand-stitched monogram or short name. One to six letters inside a heart on the animal’s chest!

So cute.

Josie is the new character in the family and was just launched yesterday. She will only be available for 2017!

Josie is a chipmunk and made of organic cotton fleece in rust orange, brown, and ivory. Her ears are lined with natural cotton muslin. She’s stuffed with washable poly fill, and her face is hand stitched with cotton embroidery floss.

These make great gifts!

PS: Hazel Village is named after the American Hazelnut tree: a source of delicious nuts, magical divining rods, useful twigs for basketry, and food for caterpillars.

Pokemon Birthday Party

Pokemon birthday party

Antoine turned 7 at the end of March and he wanted a Pokemon Birthday Party.

I ordered a few Pokemon themed Party supplies and decided to make a Pokeball cake. Lucky me – it was more or less as easy as I hoped it would be.

Through google I found a simple Birthday Cake recipe. With frosting. My base and I already bookmarked it for future birthday cakes. It is a great basis. So I made this cake and the frosting. Bought some red food colouring, black fondant and marshmallows.

[read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

I assembled the cake as in the recipe. For the top I covered one half with the normal frosting and then added the red food colouring to the rest and covered the other half. With the black fondant I made the black stripe in the middle. After that I cut a marshmallow and placed in the middle. Little black fondant around it and it was done.
It may not look like a perfect shop bought version but Antoine was super happy. And I have something about home made birthday cakes. I just like them. It is a special day and I just like baking the cake myself.  {Do you havethe same?} And it was delicious {that is why I bookmarked the recipe for future birthday cakes – you see, you can easily adapt}…

Pokemon Birthday Party here we come:

Pokemon birthday partyPokemon birthday party

We found a few great Pokemon printable online and lay them out on the table. The kids could choose their favourite and started colouring or doing a game whilst we waited for everyone to arrive.

We got:

Pokemon Maze

Design your own Pokeball

Colouring Sheets

Connect the dots

Pokemon birthday party

And other party games we did:

Pin the tail on Pikachu

Print this Pikachu and stick him on a wall or door and cut out the tails. The idea is to pin the tails on Pikachu. Blindfolded.

Pokemon charade

We selected some well known Pokemon characters from Antoine’s Pokemon cards. Divided the guests in 2 groups and played charade.

Pokemon Disco & Dance stop

Antoine chose his favourite songs and we did a little disco in the playroom. When the music stopped the kids had to stand still. The person who moved had to draw a paper and follow the instructions like ‘dig like sandchrew’ or ‘do a high jump kick like blaziken’…

You see, a Pokemon Birthday Party where everything was relatively easy to prepare and made a great party!
