I love this idea and my kids would too… I am sure. A gym bar in the kids room! {in our house it would not be a shelf, trust me}

Wow, I have not done a Friday list for a very long time and I really have lots to show you. So please get a cup of your favourite tea and enjoy…

September was really busy. We went back to school already in August but had two birthdays to celebrate – Josephine turned O N E and Leonor four.

Next week my ‘baby’ will start daycare. Big step. And it also means that I will work on ‘something new’ that will hopefully come out this year still.

I am also thinking to include a new category on Paul & Paula – food. Healthy recipes that are easy, family friendly and whole. What do you think? Interested?

Mie Frey

Mie Frey - waiting

I came across these illustrations just recently and really enjoyed them. A lovely very natural and honest as well as sweet approach to one of the most amazing experiences in a woman’s life – expecting a child.

[read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Mie Frey Damgaard, based in Copenhagen is a designer, illustrator and visual storyteller. In 2010 she graduated from the Master Program at the Design Academy Eindhoven and also holds a BA from Kolding School of Design, 2006.

Mie Frey - waiting
Mie Frey - waiting
Sometimes waiting is good, sometimes bad. When you are pregnant, waiting gets a completely new meaning. It is the most amazing time and the next moment it’s the hardest time. One moment you feel beautiful and elegant as ever before and the next moment you can sleep for a million years and you don’t even understand the meaning of elegance anymore.

During Mie Frey’s own waiting she captured the beauty, elegance and exhaustion in her series – “Waiting”.

The print includes 15 moments pregnant women will experience. Each “moment” can also be purchased as a single print. And isn’t this a perfect baby shower gift?

Mie Frey - no more waiting
Mie Frey - no more waiting
“No more waiting” is the next chapter. The baby is born. You get to know each other, you feel vulnerable and your life and yourself are changing…

A beautiful gift idea when you go and visit the new baby and mum.

mie frey - pregnancy journal
Mie combined the Waiting illustrations and the result is this pregnancy journal. To help you to keep the memory of your wonderful experience of being pregnant and becoming a new mom. The journal contains 68 pages with illustrations and pages for notes.

Gift guide 2015 {books}

Gift guide - kids Christmas' books by Paul & Paula

I love to gift books and around Christmas time we want to read some lovely Christmas stories…

Here are some lovely books, some of them are big favourites in our house too… I copied a summary so you have a little idea about the story:

1. Olivia Helps with Christmas

Olivia is getting into the Christmas spirit. There are presents to wrap, ornaments to hang on the tree, snowpigs to build…But what mischief and mayhem will she get up to this time? This delightfully told and beautifully illustrated festive Olivia story belongs under everyone’s Christmas tree!

2. The Christmas Miracle

Jonathan Toomey is the best woodcarver in the valley, but he is always alone and never smiles. No one knows about the mementos of his lost wife and child that he keeps in an unopened drawer. But one early winter’s day, a widow and her young son approach him with a gentle request that leads to a joyful miracle. The moving, lyrical tale, gloriously illustrated by P.J. Lynch, has been widely hailed as a true Christmas classic.

3. Belle & Boo and the Very Merry Christmas

It’s almost Christmas Day. Time to decorate the tree, hang up stockings and bake delicious treats. Boo thinks the best thing about Christmas is the presents waiting for him under the tree. But, with a little help from his friend Belle, Boo learns that kindness and sharing will make for the merriest Christmas of all.

4. Twelve days of Christmas

This visual feast from acclaimed illustrator Alison Jay is the perfect festive gift. On Christmas Eve, a man buys presents for the woman he loves, beginning with a partridge in a pear tree. The couple travel through town and the gifts pile up, until they get to a Christmas party so magnificent it is a little overwhelming… leading them to slip back to the quiet of home, where their partridge is waiting.

5. Illustrated stories from Dickens

Five classics from Charles Dickens including classics such as Oliver Twist, Great Expectations and David Copperfield. Beautifully illustrated for a fun and engaging read, these stories are perfect for bedtime reading and rainy days.

6. Children of the Northlights

From the beloved authors of D’Aulaires’ Book of Norse Myths and other classics comes a new edition of one of Ingri and Edgar Parin d’Aulaires’s most beguiling children’s books. Long out of print, Children of the Northlights introduces readers young and old to siblings Lise and Lasse and to the captivating Sami people and culture of northern Scandinavia. At times mischievous and at others quite courageous, Lisa and Lasse, and their Sami culture, are brought brilliantly to life in the d’Aulaires’ illustrations.

7.  The Christmas Eve Tree

When the ugly little fir tree is taken to the city, no one wants to buy him; they prefer the big tall trees. But a homeless boy asks the shopkeeper if he can take the tree, and down by the river in a cardboard box, decorated with a few candles, the tree finds itself at the centre of a magical Christmas Eve it will never forget. A Christmas tale with a classic feel but a modern theme at its heart.

8. Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth

The Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth by Sanjay Patel & Emily Haynes tells the story of Ganesha. He is just like any other child except that he has the head of an elephant and rides around on a magical mouse. The enchanting tale will charm parents and children alike.
