Architect Willem van Bolderen, and his wife Miia, a product manager live in this Finnish countryside home with their daughter Tilda. More precisley, they live in Herttoniemi, a neighbourhood and a suburb of Helsinki.
The area is a great compromise between nature and city. The metro takes you to downtown Helsinki in just 10 minutes and you are surrounded by water and the courtyside.
It is a very pure, light filled and clean house with some great details and clever planning.
Like this lovely brick wall that is a great contrast to the sleek plywood kitchen, designed by Willem himself. Those cute leather handles are self-made by the way, from leather belts.
This is Tilda’s room. Also designed by Willem. A built in cabinet and bed combo that covers the whole wall and therefore leaves lots of space to play on the floor.
Look at these flexible ropes of the bed, intended for sail boats. So clever! Tilda cannot fall out during the night and when the sun is shining in, they create a lovely sun ray pattern. Win Win!
Very pure, clever and sleek. I like the use of space and combination of modern and original features of the house. Something that keeps the soul of the space and brings in some fresh air.
