Yesterday my nesting instinct must have started to come in because I went searching for my knitting tools. Lets knit something for the new baby and lets do one of those super cute suits. So I went searching for patterns {unfortunately not much success until now} and stumbled across this cute little label called Turnip & Doe.

Knitwear composed of heirloom quality hand-knit goods for the young ones.

The name Turnip & Doe came from a nickname that my mom gave to me and my baby sister. I grew up as an only child for twenty-some years, and in the past year I discovered that my mother was expecting a baby girl. When she was born, she had a full head of hair and a big, smiley, round face. We called her Turnip in account of her, well, turnip-shaped head. My traditional Mongolian name meant “doe” or “baby deer”. I was so delighted to have a sibling in my life, I knew I had to create something that shared the happiness I felt when I was with her. I’ve always had a big interest in fashion and style, and taught myself to sew my own clothes years ago before going to school for fashion design.”

Lots of adorable little pieces, in even more adorable colours, that will last more than just one baby and probably will be kept in little boxes for grand children…

I try to design pieces that are practical, unique, fashionable, and somewhat mature, yet naive in its simplicity.

All items are lovingly hand-knit and designed in Portland, Oregon.
