Tate Modern with kids

Tate Modern is the national gallery of international modern and contemporary art from 1900 onwards. It’s housed in a renovated power station which means there’s a huge Turbine Hall on the lowest floor. This space has regular art installations but there’s always space for the young ones to have a run around.
Tate Modern offers a range of activities for children and their parents to explore together. Children can go on secret trails, use an interactive media guide or get hands on the Family Zone, which you will find on Level 3 and it is for free. This family friendly space has fun art books to browse and during week ends and holidays offers great activities to get families exploring the galleries and encountering new ideas.
Kids eat for free at the Cafe on Level 2 and 7. (under the age of 12 and joined by an adult ordering a main course and dessert from the a la carte menu). The cafe is very child friendly with a buggy park, plenty of high chairs, crayons and colouring sheets.
Go as well to the main shop, they sell excellent children’s books.
Check the Tate kids website for inspiration and to create your own gallery. Hand drawn illustrations and a customisible interface allow you to change the appearance of the site.
