Moving with 3 kids

Next week we are going to Malmo. House hunting, visiting school and some other things including introducing the kids to the city they will call home as of this summer.

But one thing that I really underestimated – is already very clear: Moving with 3 kids is a total different story and cannot be compared to any other move we did before.
Things that did not bother me much before are super important now. Last time we moved KleinR was just 4 months old. We were a couple who just had a baby and really did not put much thinking into “living with kids”.

At that time we did not think about school {and were lucky that the school we liked most is more or less ok to reach}, we never imagined that we will have 3 kids in this house and probably would never have said yes to live 3 floors up with steap {Amsterdam normal} stairs! Even so we do enjoy the light and that nobody walks on our head…

So… right now it is about:
Living somewhere close to school.
Supermarket.Daycare.Activities – close by please.
We are done with 3 floors and lots of stairs… really done.
Kids rooms.
How do the doctors work?
Where is the next park? {lucky here in Amsterdam as well}

And of course – will the kids be ok?
Leonor will be 10 months and probably not be bothered as long as mummy and daddy are in sight.
Antoine is 3… still young enough to come along, look around, help unpacking and find his toys.
Romy is 6 and man I am so proud of her. Until now she is super excited. Looks like she was born with globetrotter genes or so… she thinks it is a really good idea to move to Sweden, she likes the idea of a new room {maybe even one just for her} and even the fact that she will go to a new school does not scare her.
We are really positive and have a good feeling that it will be a smooth transition but of course we will be careful, support and comfort all of them when necessary.

My mum offered to come over and help with the kids during the first days – surely the kids will love it.

What is your experience when moving with kids? Do you have any great tips to share – I would love to hear them…

PS: I will keep you updated about our week in Sweden specially the house hunting… maybe you can help with the choosing! :)
