We have a biiiiiig box of dress up clothes and accessories in our house and it is probably one of the most used and played with toys. Especially when we have playdates and/or friends over…. very quickly the kids change into princesses, cooks, old ladies or heroes. There are also lots of masks, hats and other little things to add the final touch…

So when I discovered the universe of Maria Salamanca {what a beautiful name} and her Frida’s Tierchen I was smitten straight away.

The brand was born six years ago in Barcelona with the birth of my daughter Frida. With a background in fine arts, turning my view on the infants’ world was a big discovery. I realized that many of the toys on the marked tend towards a strident and hyper-stimulating design, often with a poor quality. This is how I started dreaming and creating the dolls that would accompany Frida during her childhood, giving priority to the quality of the materials and the design as a value.

And talking about the dolls – a pregnant mother that gives birth and breastfeeds her baby. Mother and child are united by a symbolic cotton umbilical chord that can be left intact or cut when representing the birth of the baby. The dress of the mother is crossed at the front and both the mother and the child have little magnets sewn within the tissue that allow the representation of breast-feeding by attaching the baby to the breast of the mother, who can also carry the baby within the foulard.

Such a beautiful idea. Expecting baby number four and having one very passionate mini mum who adores all her dolls, a boy that asks me a million questions about breastfeeding nearly every day I feel we need to have one of those in our home!
