Yesterday I shared some impressions from the famous fashion shows from Pitti Bimbo. Today I will share some of my highlights and favourites.
It is always my first show of the season and that means that all my favourite kids fashion people are coming together and there is a lot of catching up to do. Then all the events and shows… it is usually two really busy days for me. Packed with lots of information, news and inspiration…

Generally lots of gold and silver in the A/W collections for 2018/19. Especially golden winter jackets!
It will be a GOLDEN season.
The world of kids fashion met in Florence from 18.-20.1.2018 for Pitti Bimbo and what a show it was. FORTEZZA DA BASSO was busy and for those three days the true capital of children’s wear!
Many fabulous events including panels and discussions, three fashion shows and the big celebration of the 50 year anniversary of Monnalisa.

Barcarola, from Spain, is famous in the ceremony clothing industry. Ceremonial dresses, special occasion silk suits and jackets that impress everybody and make kids happy. Designed for kids starting from 5 to 15 years old.

Tartaleta, from Spain, is known for its sophisticated and romantic designs.

From Spain and known for high quality versatile pieces that are bursting with personality and fun.

Finely crafted and hand-embroidered clothes, using a combination of Indian artisan techniques.

Probably showed the most stunning pieces!
The Golden Age of Monnalisa – celebrating 50 years with a glamorous show on Thursday evening!

Cinema will be the theme for Pitti Bimbo – taking place in Florence, Italy from January 18-21.1.2018. And the Fortezza da Basso will be devised, for this edition, as a sort of film festival where each venue represents a specific genre.
The leading key international fair dedicated to children’s fashion and lifestyle is waiting with projects dedicated to new market segments, special participation’s and a focus on emerging talents.
There will be a total of 540 brands / collections and out of that number 315 foreign brands (55% of the total).
And 128 new brands and reentries. Exciting fair ahead I would say!
Pitti Bimbo will be devided in 10 Sections: Pitti Bimbo, Sport Generation, #Activelab, SuperStreet, EcoEthic, Apartment, KidzFIZZ, The Nest, Fancy Room, Fashion at Work. Truly something for everyone. From luxury to casual, from street wear to organic basics.

Here are just some of the highlights that will wait for us in January:
* NEW – #ACTIVELAB @ Cavaniglia Studio
This brand new experimental section connecting the sport and street universe debuts at Pitti Bimbo. #Activelab is the new research laboratory with the same DNA as Kidzfizz, but with a street and sport influence and imprint. Find it inside the Cavaniglia Pavilion
* “The Golden Age”: Monnalisa will celebrate 50 years with a stunning event!
For the first time ever the Fortezza da Basso will be illuminated by night. On the top floor of the Central Pavilion, Thursday 18th of January from 19.30 on wards, there will be catwalk shows, music and cocktails.
* Simonetta presents “How many balloons does it take to make a dream fly?”, a special installation at the Limonaia di Villa Vittoria, on Thursday 18th of January.
* Roberto Cavalli Junior will adorn a customized space at the Fortezza da Basso in jaguar spot and prints.
* On the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion, The Extraordinary Library will provide a space for a selection of 100 illustrated books from international publishers. Dedicated to entertainment in all its forms: the story of cinema and theater, the magic of ballet and opera, the wonder of the acrobatic and circus arts.
* Apartment is the space devoted to contemporary luxury. On Friday January 19th, a special catwalk show at the Sala della Ronda will give greater visibility to some of the brands.
* KidzFIZZ brings together the most creative collections by brands that experiment with shapes, materials and presentation. KidzFIZZ is the fair’s concept lab and on Friday January 19th, a selection of KidzFIZZ brands will be part of a special fashion show in the Sala della Ronda.
* The Nest is there too. Of course! An exclusive selection of small and “up-and-coming” independent brands selected in collaboration with Little Pop Up. Very much looking forward to discovering some new brands there.
* Pirouette will select two brands for the 1 2 watch awards. Judging the new talents in The Nest and KidzFizz sections who stand out for their creativity, attention to details and design. The winners will be selected and announced on Thursday 18th January.
* Oh and myself, yes I will also play a little extra role for this season. I will be writing a special web diary for the Pitti Immagine website, with all the most interesting news from the show.
My recap from CIFF Kids in August is a little late but… I managed, just about, to publish it in the same month. Before the show I shared a few posts about newcomers or lifestyle brands that I absolutely wanted to see and they all did not disappoint.
The show was fresh, lots of pastels, a wonderful lifestyle section, fashion shows under the sun and many lovely people to catch up with.
