14 joyful things for your November!

14 joyful things for your November!

Sending you into the new months with some really cool stuff. Reads, finds and interiors. November is (nearly) here and I know… it is not everyone’s favourite month of the year.

So let’s just believe that the golden autumn weather will stay and in case of grey skies and rainy days… you can just enjoy this list.
By the way – are you all set for Halloween today?

I am so curious on what will happen here in London. Because in Sweden Halloween was not (yet) a big deal. Some parties, mostly at school, and maybe a bit of decoration at home. But not much trick or treating…
The kids are super excited, of course!

ZebraBook – personalised books

ZebraBook - personalised books
Now this was and is quite a funny thing. Antoine in a book! How did that happen? And why? And who?
So many questions arose when Antoine discovered how very own book during the Winter break that it was truly to cute to watch.

And the mystery behind this really great surprise is called ZebraBook publications.
They create personalised books for each of their little customers, containing their name and surname.

‘All of our beautiful books are hand finished, educational, solid, attractive and ethical but most importantly they are lots of fun! Each book is lovingly made and hand finished at our workshop in Belgium, where we offset the CO2 emissions of our activity and transport. Our stories are written to help children to grow up, to teach them the alphabet and help them to discover our incredible world without any stereotypes.’

And we love books in our house and this is really such a great idea. I especially love that these are ‘real’ books. Not just a little hardcover with lots of images and a name on the cover. These are super stories, beautiful illustrations and the child will find himself in the text on various occasions.

Antoine has ‘The European Tour’, perfect fit for us because you discover and explore Europe throughout the book. And he could find a lot of places that he already visited.

It was especially fun to read about The Netherlands – the country where he was born!

‘YOUR child will be the heroine or hero of a great search across our continent for the 26 letters of the alphabet. During their quest they have to pick tulips in the Netherlands, put Swiss cuckoo clocks back together, save a young stork in Poland, learn the art of drinking tea properly with the Queen of England, console a little Romanian vampire and so on.This unique, enthralling tale will help them discover more about Europe as they complete this journey full of fun tasks and challenges.’

You can see the other books here.

And the best: The books are available in English, French, Dutch, Spanish & German.

Konfetti Kids – new kids store in Barcelona

Konfetti Kids - new kids store in Barcelona
Barcelona is THE city at the moment and if you happen to live there {lucky you!} or planning a trip, then take note now: there is a new kids shop called KONFETTI KIDS that opened just recently in the Barrio Gotico disctrict. And it looks really super inviting and fun.

And so does the online shop by the way, I love the illustrations.

Claudia is originally from Bergamo, Italy.
After her studies she collected some professional experiences in women’s wear, where she had the chance to travel and fall in love with Berlin.
Five years ago Claudia decided to move to Berlin, met her husband Michael and in March 2015  their daughter Lilien was born.

Since Lilien Claudia’s interest in the world of kids wear started to grow. Thinking about quality and good design and how to combine both. The starting point for her ‘project’.

In 2016, the family decided to move to Barcelona and in May this year Claudia found the perfect location for KONFETTI KIDS in a beautiful street of the Barrio Gotico and her project became finally real!

So, yes, the concept was conceived in Berlin and is now based in Barcelona. A concept store for the whole family with a hand-picked selection of international brands for children that reflects her passion for good quality and design.

Bookshelf ideas for the kidsroom

kids bookshelf ideas

Kids books are the best, aren’t they? I mean I love books in general and can hardly pass a book store but the illustrations and the creativity that come with kids books are so inspiring.

We have many books for the kids and we love to choose books when we go ‘home’ – to Germany or France – and want to bring back books in ‘our’ languages. These moments usually take a good amount of time but especially in Germany book stores are real lifestyle shops these days and have something for everyone. But back to the topic.

With four kids, a couple of languages and lots of book lovers the book shelf is busy. And I always like to use some of the extra beautiful ones as decoration as well. Do you do the same?

That is why I went out looking for some inspiration on how to display the kids’ books best.

Above is a great idea. A shelving system made out of crates. You can find those at your local hardware store. Just make sure to get the treated ones so no risks of splints.

This metal wired basket shelf does a really good job as well. {I found something similar here}

The IKEA frame ledges are well known to serve to display books very nicely. I like that they put them at different heights. It really makes for a beautiful decoration!

kutikai bookshelf

Bookshelf from Kutikai – with different compartments for books and other things of all sizes!

This is perfect. It looks super cute, it is easy for the kids to see their things and grab them and because it is all white and aligned it is really modern too.

By the way, just yesterday I shared some great inspiration on how to decorate with books over at A Moment For Mom.
