Tina, born in Seoul, Korea and moved to the US when she was 4 years old, graduated from Parsons wanting to start her own womenswear collection but once she became pregnant, she decided to take time off and focus on being a stay-at-home mother.

While trying to dress her son, she became frustrated that there wasn’t enough children’s wear options that she liked. Clothes that have the Milanese “sophistication” the Parisian “chic” and the Japanese “cool.” While Hunter slept at night, Tina made clothes for him and this soon led her to making clothes for his playmates.

What started out as a way to remain creative as a stay-at-home mother quickly became a passion and a fantastic brand called Tuchinda with gorgeous designs featuring beautiful European and Japanese fabrics and interesting textures at the same time!

“Tuchinda expresses a high level of artistry normally reserved for luxury womenswear and menswear. I predominantly use European and Japanese fabrics, including organic fabrics whenever possible. There are a lot of pattern manipulation, sewing technique, details, prints, and colors that are highly sophisticated and not easily found in childrenswear. I believe children’s clothes should be multicultural wearable art. Tuchinda also reflects all that I loved from my travels abroad. I was most influenced by three places, Milan, Paris, and Japan. In Milan, I was intrigued by the sophisticated way they mixed multiple colors and prints in the same outfit. In Paris, I became obsessed with the nonchalant chic attitude towards dressing. In Tokyo, I embraced the “cool” break away from all that is normal seen in their streetwear and their avant-garde designs. I try to combine all of these elements in my collections.”

I think the pictures speak pretty much for themselves and a lady who brings us such beautiful pieces for our kids needs an applause.
The details on the knitted cardigan are amazing and all the great fabrics and pattern…. LOVE!
