Summer with Bianca - Little Scandinavian {a series}

Your name: Bianca Wessel
Your blog: littlescandinavian.com
Your city: London, UK

+ What best describes summer for you?
Spending time outdoors, even cooking and enjoying your food outdoors. Summer is also bathing in the sea, fishing from the boat, trying to eat your ice cream before it melts, shorts and sandals, picking and preserving berries -and allow the children have sugar in a cup for their rhubarb.

+ What is your preferred holiday destination?
The South Coast of Norway, with polished rocks stretching into the open blue sea.

+ Preferred summer food and drink?
Boiled shrimps bought from the fisherman as "catch of the day". Served au naturel with a fresh loaf, some mayonnaise, dill, a few drops of lemon and some freshly grounded pepper. A glass of beer from the Norwegian brewery Nøgne Ø. Combined with a beautiful sunset this is the best menu!

+ What is your favourite summer outfit for your kids this season?
April has been the wettest month in London, with miserable weather throughout. So the girls haven't really got to enjoy their summer clothes yet (unless you were thinking of rainwear). But the gorgeous items from Pale Cloud is both beautiful, delicate and very summery. And a lovely change from the daily used school uniform.

+ Top baby/ kids sun cream?
Anything that is clean and free of harmful ingredients. Bought new ones in Norway when on Easter holiday, from Maria Åkerberg. In London I trust the REN Skincare for the entire family. Just want to mention that I don't allow my children to stay too long out in the sun, and also that they do use sun protective clothes.

+ What do you recommend us to do in your city during summer with kids?
Families visiting London should not leave the British Capital before they have been on the bus (and you need to sit at the top and in front), been in a black cab, seen "Big Ben" before jumping on a boat to Greenwich for some browsing around the market. A trip with the narrow boat on Regents Canal from Camden Market to Little Venice, followed by s short stroll up to Maida Vale and Gordon Ramsay's pub the Warrington Hotel, where I strongly recommend having either fish and chips or the pint with shrimps. The next day you can take the children to Tate Modern, for a run around and some great art. Make sure you visit the cafe with a splendid view over the London skyline with St Pauls Cathedral towering majestically in the middle. The newly refurbished Kensington Palace is well worth a visit, but you need to set a side at least a day, and that leaves you enough time to hire a paddle boat in Hyde Park too. I recommend shopping in Marylebone High Street and also Liberty, near Oxford Circus. Oh my -you got me started now!

+ Your all time summer hit?
Summertime with Billie Holiday is a long time favourite.

{Thank you Bianca}

Little Marcel

Little Marcel is a French Label created in 2005 by Lynda Leseigneur and Eric Schieven. The neo-vintage look was immediately eye-catching.

It is a “must-have” casual brand, specially in summer with all the happy colours. Above are images from the current summer collection - isn't fun? The collections are for babies, girls and boys from 0 to 16 as well as women.

Great colours like coral, blue, orange together with funky patterns like dots and stripes are the best mix.
... and how cool are those multicolored gingham cotton dresses and shirts?

Here is the video for this fun collection that will totally put you in the summer feeling!

Summer baby onesies

My baby will be born in late September but I am swooning over all these pretty summer overalls.
Liberty, neon, checks, dots, stripes... awwwwwww... it is hard to resist...
but next summer she will sport some... for sure...!

Happy Tuesday everyone, the sun left but we made the most out of it when it was still here this long week end xoxo

Summer Special on Paul & Paula
Summer Special on Paul & Paula
Your name: Erica Knecht
Your blog: expatriababy.com
Your City: Fukuoka, Japan

+ What best describes summer for you?
Hot and lazy. For me, summer is sitting by the lake with a good book and a cool drink. It's long afternoon naps, and days spent living in a bathing suit. It's barbecues, friends, mosquitos, boat rides, and sunburns. Summer is, hands down, my favorite time of the year.

+ What is your preferred holiday destination?
My parents have a tiny cottage on a tiny island in Northern Ontario, and I've spent every single summer of my life up there, and to me, summer isn't summer without a trip up to the bay. We spend the days building docks or hunting wild blueberries and evenings are passed hanging out with friends and cousins on my uncle's dock, taking saunas and jumping in the lake. It's nothing special, but I look forward to it all year.

+ Preferred Summer food and drink?
It may be cliche American, but I love a good burger (extra pickles please!), cooked over charcoal, with a cold craft beer. Oh yum.

+ What is your favorite summer outfit for your kids this season?
My favorite summer outfit for my girl is a light sundress or romper and floppy hat. Cool, breezy, and easy. I'm in love with this Nico Nico dress, this Little Lief romper, oh and this one too. And I die for this Anthem of the Ants skipper dress. Swoon to the moon.

+ Top baby / kids sun cream?
My little red headed girl needs all the sun protection we can offer, so I load her up with Neutrogena Pure and Free Baby in SPF 60+.

+ What do you recommend us to do in your city in the summer with kids?
It's incredibly hot and humid where we live, so hot that being outside during the day is more than little ones can handle. In the heat of the day, we often visit various jidokan (indoor play centers) for some sweet sweet A/C, but the best thing to do is take an evening bike ride out to the beach at Odo park and enjoy a dip in the ocean and a seaside barbecue.

+ Your all time summer hit?
I love everything about the summer, I'll even take the mosquitos and the humidity if it means that I can wear pretty sundresses and not worry about being cold. Still, my girl's first summer at my parent's summer cottage was pretty special for me, and it will be a long held happy memory.

{Thank you Erica}
